"Lights of Liberty"

Cost - $17.76 - Minimum of 20 people needed for this trip.

"Lights of Liberty" is a breathtaking 60-minute sound and light spectacular that brings the nation's most historic square mile to life after the sun sets. The story is told in five dramatic acts throughout Independence National Historical Park, home to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Visitors will walk to each of five sites (stretching across five city blocks) where they will see images and hear sounds that depict the dramatic events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence which give birth to a new nation. Experience the American Revolution, as it happened, where it happened - told through state-of-the-art technology. The presentation includes beautiful hand-painted images that are projected up to 50 feet high onto the buildings where the events actually took place over 200 years ago. The presentation is accompanied by 3-D surround audio, featuring narration by Walter Cronkite, Charlton Heston, and Whoopi Goldberg. You can experience the show in English, Spanish, Italian, German, and Japanese.

Dinner at The Victor Café "Music Lover's Rendezvous"

Bus leaves Lights of Liberty for Restaurant at 8:00 P.M.
Another bus will leave hotel for those not going to Lights of Liberty

The Victor Café offers a most unique dining experience. It was opened in 1918 by John DiStephano and features Italian cuisine served by opera-singing waiters. Approximately every twenty minutes, the staff takes a moment between courses to ring a bell (which sits on a shelf near a stairway that connects the two brownstones that house the café) announcing a performance that fills the little café with song. The café was a former gramophone store, and many vintage recordings are displayed, along with photographs of famous singers, all providing inspiration and a truly Italian restaurant atmosphere, right down to the red and white-checked tablecloths.

Cost - $35 (includes light breakfast on the bus, all entrance fees, guided tours, and transportation) - lunch is your own choice. Minimum of 20 people required for this trip.

Visit the museum's magnificent collection of American antiques celebrating the best in style and craftsmanship. Browse through two floors of decorative art exhibitions enhanced by film, audio messages, interactive displays, and hands-on activities. Take a 45-minute guided tour of the elegant rooms where the du Pont family entertained. Enjoy a 30-minute tram ride through the glorious 60-acre garden and surrounding landscape of woodlands, waterways, and rolling meadows. Don't miss the Campbell Collection of Soup Tureens made for royal palaces, presidential homes, and aristocratic mansions. Discover the magic of a fairy tale garden with a visit to Enchanted Woods, a unique children's garden. Relax and enjoy lunch at the Winterthur Cafeteria. Winterthur is the former country estate of Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969), which had been in the family since the early 1800's. The du Pont family came to the United States from France in 1800 and started E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., which manufactured gunpowder. The company has since changed its focus from explosives to chemistry combined with biotechnology.
